Resort area of Alcaidesa:
Alcaidesa is a small but friendly seaside resort located between Sotogrande and Gibraltar with a simply gorgeous ‘blue flag’ sandy beach that stretches for more than three miles. It remains relatively unknown to tourists and as a consequence is very much un-commercialised.
That said, there is a selection of bars and restaurants and a local pharmacy located in Alcaidesa Square a mere 15 minute walk from the apartment. During the summer months three marquees are erected on the sands where you can have an exquisite meal and enjoy a drink or two whilst watching the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea.
Alcaidesa is within easy reach of Gibraltar, Jerez and Malaga airports and is the home of two championship golf courses one being the only Links course in southern Spain. These beautiful courses are a five-minute drive away from the apartment. Numerous other golfing venues are all within easy reach by car including the world famous Ryder Cup course at Valderrama.
The cosmopolitan areas of Marbella and Puerto Banus are only a 30-minute drive away and Gibraltar is just 15 minutes away.
Why not combine your stay at the apartment with a trip to a different continent? Morocco’s port towns of Ceuta and Tangier in North Africa can be reached very easily with a ferry crossing from Gibraltar, Algeciras or Tarifa. Average crossing times are about 1 hour 30 minutes; however, some service from Tarifa can get you there in just 35 minutes. Please do remember to take your passport with you and this applies when visiting Gibraltar too!
Regency Apartment Complex:
The apartment is situated in the ‘Regency Apartments’ complex at Alcaidesa which consists of an aesthetically pleasing block of about 100 or so varying sized apartments completed in 2005. The complex is privately owned, friendly and very quiet, with the vast majority of occupants being British.
The complex is gated and offers a safe environment with free secure car parking, there is a huge swimming pool, separate children pool, changing rooms, toilets, baby room, communal laundry room, library; a gymnasium and tennis court can also be found by the pool. A lifeguard is on duty throughout the summer months!
Apartment:
The apartment has the benefit of having a large balcony to enjoy the warm sun with magnificent sea views and on a clear day the peaks of the ‘Atlas Mountain’ range can be seen on the North African coastline. The ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ can be clearly seen from the pool. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one en-suite double, one twin bedroom with adjacent bathroom) all rooms have remote operating climate control units and there is also double glazing throughout making this a very comfortable base that is ideal for both holiday and golfing breaks.
There is a comfortable living area with a TV incorporating a Sky TV package, DVD player and i-pod docking station, various DVD’s books and games. The kitchen is fully equipped as follows: – 4-ring hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, iron, ironing board plus clothes airer and a comprehensive selection of cooking utensils.
